L’església parroquial de Sant Bartomeu a Valldemossa (Mallorca). De la fàbrica medieval a la imatge contemporània

Abstract

El artículo presenta un estudio diacrónico de la iglesia parroquial de San Bartolomé de Valldemossa, centrado en la evolución de su configuración arquitectónica exterior. A partir de fuentes documentales inéditas, se reconstruyen las diferentes transformaciones que ha experimentado la fachada del templo desde la Edad Media hasta la actualidad. El trabajo analiza las distintas etapas estilísticas, desde la tradición gótica mallorquina, pasando por las influencias del clasicismo del siglo XIX, hasta las intervenciones regionalistas del siglo XX. Asimismo, se examina la relación entre arquitectura, contexto histórico y paisaje, destacando el papel del edificio en la configuración visual de la Serra de Tramuntana.

This article presents a diachronic study of the parish church of Sant Bartolomé in Valldemossa, focusing on the evolution of its external architectural configuration. Using unpublished documentary sources, it reconstructs the various transformations undergone by the church façade from the medieval period to the present. The study analyses successive stylistic phases, from Majorcan Gothic tradition to nineteenth-century Classicism and twentieth-century Regionalism. It also explores the relationship between architecture, historical context, and landscape, highlighting the church’s role in shaping the visual identity of the Serra de Tramuntana and its significance within the local cultural heritage.
