Abstract

El capítulo analiza el papel de las catedrales como elementos clave del patrimonio cultural y su potencial educativo. Estas construcciones, consideradas símbolos históricos y culturales, ofrecen múltiples posibilidades didácticas desde enfoques interdisciplinarios. El estudio revisa su reconocimiento histórico, su protección institucional y su presencia en el currículo educativo, destacando limitaciones en su tratamiento pedagógico. Asimismo, se exploran las oportunidades que brindan para desarrollar competencias en áreas como historia, arte, matemáticas, ciencias y educación artística. Las catedrales se presentan como espacios que favorecen el aprendizaje significativo mediante la experiencia directa, la interpretación simbólica y el uso de recursos tecnológicos. Finalmente, se subraya su valor como herramientas educativas para fortalecer la identidad cultural, fomentar la conciencia patrimonial y promover la conservación del legado histórico.

The chapter analyzes the role of cathedrals as key elements of cultural heritage and their educational potential. These constructions, considered historical and cultural symbols, offer multiple didactic possibilities from interdisciplinary approaches. The study reviews their historical recognition, institutional protection, and presence in educational curricula, highlighting limitations in their pedagogical treatment. It also explores the opportunities they provide to develop competencies in areas such as history, art, mathematics, science, and artistic education. Cathedrals are presented as spaces that promote meaningful learning through direct experience, symbolic interpretation, and the use of technological resources. Finally, the chapter emphasizes their value as educational tools to strengthen cultural identity, foster heritage awareness, and encourage the preservation of historical legacy.
