Abstract

El trabajo expuesto a continuación trata de entrar en uno de los puntos clave dentro del mundo del fútbol, que no es otro que el tiempo de posesión , resulta obvio que mientras que un equipo tiene el balón es imposible que el equipo contrario pueda conseguir un gol, sin embargo y como nos apuntan Gómez y Álvaro (2002) éste tópico con relación a que el equipo con un mayor tiempo de posesión obtiene un mejor rendimiento, se aleja de la realidad del juego ya que un mayor tiempo de posesión del balón no nos garantiza la consecución del gol ni un mejor resultado en el partido. Se analizaron los tiempos de posesión de 4 partidos de la temporada 2002/2003 tres de ellos pertenecientes a los cuartos de final de la liga de campeones y uno a un partido de la liga española. Se vio que poseer un mayor tiempo de posesión no garantizaba un resultado favorable o un mayor rendimiento.
