"Gozar sin entender". Geografía de los sentimientos en Teresa de Jesús

Abstract

Comenzaremos nuestro estudio buscando las conexiones entre los sentimientos y la mística en general. Inmediatamente nos adentraremos en un análisis de los sentimientos teresianos. Partiendo en cada punto de una base teórica (sobre todo los trabajos de A. Damasio), haremos la transición hacia los textos de Teresa, para ofrecer en cada epígrafe una visión lo más rigurosa posible sobre qué son los sentimientos, así como sus conexiones con el cuerpo y la interacción social. Analizaremos para qué sirven los sentimientos, tanto los negativos como los positivos. Y terminamos tendiendo un puente entre los sentimientos y la acción.

Our study begins with an exploration of the connection between feelings and mysticism in general, from which we will then delve into an analysis of feelings in the writings of St. Teresa. While using a theoretical basis for our analysis (especially the works of A. Damasio), we will make the transition to Teresa’s texts, offering in each section a vision as rigorous as possible of what feelings are, as well as their connection to the body and to social interaction. After analyzing the purpose of feelings, both the negative and the positive kind, we will conclude by building a bridge between feelings and action.
