Lorca's Poet in New York as a Paradigm of Poetic Retranslation

Abstract

Este capítulo analiza la evolución socio-histórica de las traducciones al inglés del Poeta en Nueva York de Federico García Lorca y ofrece un análisis diacrónico de las cinco traducciones completas del texto que abarca desde la primera edición bilingüe de 1940 hasta la retraducción más reciente de 2008.

This chapter analyses the socio-historic evolution of the English language translations of Federico García Lorca s Poet in New York through a diachronic analysis of the five complete English language translations currently published of the text which range from the first bilingual edition of 1940 to the most recent retranslation published in 2008.
