Abstract

This paper presents a new method to model the steady state fault current contribution of inverter?connected generation such as type 4 wind and PV generators during three?phase shortcircuits. The proposed method is based on the Norton equivalent of the generators. The method basically adds a resonant admittance to cancel out the impact of the equivalent admittance for fault current computation. This way, iterative computations are avoided. The proposed method is simple to implement and it has been successfully applied to a simple and a real system consisting of planned wind farm on the Canary Islands.
