Rewriting Lorca into the 21st century. A Paradigm of Retranslation.

Abstract

Siguen apareciendo nuevas traducciones de la obra Federico García Lorca en el mundo anglosajón y su reputación Literaria sigue siendo reescrita y quizás incluso manipulada a través de estas retraducciones sucesivas. Esta comunicación analiza los motivos del deseo constante de reescribir a Lorca desde el momento de su asesinato hasta bien entrado el siglo XXI.

As new translations of Federico García Lorca continue to appear in the English-speaking world and his literary reputation continues to be rewritten and perhaps even manipulated through these successive retranslations, this paper explores the reasons for this constant desire to rewrite Lorca since the time of his murder right into the 21st century.
