La transición del Bachillerato a la Universidad: identidad vocacional de los alumnos de Bachillerato con preferencia por los estudios de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte.

Abstract

Introducción: El área de la actividad física y el deporte en España ha experimentado un importante auge en los últimos años. Esta realidad ha producido un aumento significativo del número de alumnos que eligen cursar estudios universitarios relacionados con este ámbito profesional. La orientación específica a los candidatos interesados por estos estudios se constituye como un factor clave para facilitarles una mejor transición del Bachillerato a la Universidad. Objetivo: explorar la identidad vocacional de los estudiantes de 2º de Bachillerato que tienen como opción preferente acceder a los estudios del Grado en Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte (CAFYDE). Método: La muestra respondiente fue de 4.715 sujetos de 2º de Bachillerato de centros públicos y privados de la Comunidad de Madrid, el 43,9% varones y el 56,1% mujeres, con una edad media de 17,37 años (DT= .65) que completaron los cuestionarios de orientación del Proyecto Orión (www.upcomillas.es/myvip). Los análisis realizados han sido de tipo descriptivo e inferencial mediante el programa SPSS.24, incluyendo el examen de la distribución y los estadísticos descriptivos para cada una de las variables estudiadas, prueba de Ji-cuadrado para el análisis de las tablas de contingencia, contrastes de medias para grupos independientes y su confirmación mediante pruebas de análisis multivariante de la varianza (MANOVA) y tamaño del efecto. Resultados: Las pruebas realizadas permiten confirmar las hipótesis principales del estudio: a) existen diferencias significativas tanto en el perfil de intereses como, b) en el de valores vocacionales de los estudiantes de 2º de Bachillerato que tienen como opción principal el Grado de CAFYDE en relación con los que manifiestan como preferencia realizar otros Grados.

Introduction: The area of physical activity and sport in Spain has experienced a significant boom over the last few years. This reality has led to an important increase in the number of high school students who choose University studies related to this field. The specific orientation for candidates who show interest in these studies seems to be a key factor to foster a better transition from Secondary school to University in this group of people. Objectives: The aim of this study is to explore the specific vocational identity of Secondary school students whose first choice is the degree on Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (PASS). Methods: The sample was comprised of 4715 students in their last year of secondary school from both public and private schools in Madrid. From the total sample, 43.9% were men while 56.1% were women (M age = 17.37, SD age = 0.65). Participants completed a battery of vocational orientation questionnaires from the Orion Project (www.upcomillas.es/myvip). Descriptive and inferential analyses were performed with SPSS 24.0. The analyses comprised normality test, descriptive statitistics, Pearson chi-cuadrado to analyze contingency tables, independent-samples t-test and multivariate analyses of variance (MANOVA) as well as their corresponding effect size test. Results: Results confirm the two initial hypotheses; a) there are differences both in the profile of interests and b) vocational interests between students who chose the degree in PASS as their first choice and the rest of students. To sum up, vocational areas characterizing students willing to study PASS are Sports , Protection and Safety , Health and Teaching and Orienteeing . Furthermore, vocational values characterizing students willing to study PASS are: Performing a fun activity and Having a family-friendly work schedule .
