Análisis de la neología y de la terminología: modificaciones y nuevas aportaciones a la lengua española

Abstract

Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado (TFG) tiene como objetivo el análisis de la terminología desde los inicios de la neología, la influencia que han tenido los préstamos de una lengua hacia otra hasta la constitución y creación de los términos en distintas lenguas, y su posterior incorporación a la base de datos terminológica IATE. Se ha analizado la influencia que tienen algunos idiomas como el francés y el inglés sobre la lengua española. Sin embargo, lenguas como el alemán no han sido tan significativas en el español. Por el contrario, se ha apreciado la menor presencia de hispanismos sobre el inglés, el francés y el alemán. Asimismo, se puede observar en el TFG los distintos mecanismos de creación de los neologismos, los observatorios neolingüísticos existentes, tipos de préstamos principales, métodos de creación de términos más comunes, entre otros aspectos. La última parte de este análisis es constatar la cantidad de términos que tiene IATE con respecto a la lengua española porque se observa que existe una gran cantidad de fichas terminológicas de la lengua inglesa en esta base. Se concluye que el inglés posee el doble de fichas terminológicas que el español en la base de datos IATE. Esto lleva a deducir que es necesario aumentar las entradas de la lengua española en IATE para igualar los idiomas predominantes como el inglés, el francés y el alemán, puesto que se trata de una base de datos que facilitará el aprendizaje del español.

This End-of-Degree Dissertation (TFG) aims to analyse the field of terminology: from the coining of the term neology, to the influence of borrowings between languages, to the creation of terms in different languages, and their subsequent incorporation into the Interactive Terminology for Europe (IATE) database. While the influence that languages like French and English have had on the Spanish language has already been much researched, languages such as German have not had as significant of an impact on Spanish. Conversely, Spanish’s impact on English, French and German, while lesser, has been noted. Additionally, this TFG seeks to examine, among other aspects, the different ways in which neologisms are created, the existing language observatories dedicated to the study of neology, the primary types of language borrowings, and methods of creating commonplace terms. The TFG concludes with a count of the number of Spanish terms registered in the IATE database in comparison with the number of English terms given that it has previously been observed that there is a large number of terminology cards for the English language in the IATE. Ultimately, the research shows that English has twice as many terminology recordings in the IATE database as Spanish. Given this information, one may conclude that it is necessary to increase the number of Spanish language entries in the IATE database in order to create a balance between the dominant languages like English, French and German, especially given that this database can be used as a tool to facilitate Spanish language.
