Abstract
The impact of extreme events on power system operation is a growing concern, and planning and operation of hybrid ACDC power systems should account for resilience. This paper presents a framework for reliability and resilience (R&R)-oriented planning and operation of hybrid ACDC power systems, enabling the assessment and comparison of candidate HVDC architectures in terms of adequacy, security and resilience. The paper also describes optimization and simulation tools used to quantify adequacy, security, and resilience-related key performance indicators (KPIs). The application of these tools to standard test power systems showcases the security and resilience assessment of candidate HVDC architectures.
